It was odd that he wanted to show me this skull and teeth on our first date, but he was in dental school. At least we were in his bedroom—that was good.
If you had two more words to use ..."I think?" would end this well. At least that is what my mind added all by herself. Yes I am talking about my mind in the third again. Stop. :) Great piece MOV! As usual!
Rachel, I cannot believe you wrote that. You are psychic. My first draft started with the words, "I thought it was weird ..." and then I changed weird to odd and then when I was all done, 35 words. I finessed it as best I could, almost got rid of the "at least", but in the end, realized that the only fat I could trim was the "I thought." I was hoping that since my character was saying it, it was implied.
Very cute story. Have several friends who are dentist. My best friend dated her eventual husband through dental school so this could be their reality. Fun interpretation.
thanks, gina! the girl in the photo just looks so cheerful and young and innocent. seemed like a fresh and new relationship, still trying to impress one another.
MOV, you win the award for prescience. The woman in this photo is, indeed, a dentist. :-) Thanks for linking up with this clever and intuitive response. See you on Monday for the weekday challenge!

ReplyDeletethanks, kelly!
DeleteHa! How very sexy. I loved when new dates tried to impress me with something...odd. Though, admittedly, none showed me a dead person's teeth.
ReplyDeletethanks, Kim!
