60. We Are So Advanced

I love all the advances we’ve made in technology.  My iPhone, gotta talk to my friends every 10 minutes.  Mapquest, GPS, geesh—so lost without it.  Society is better because of technology.  Yes.

  1. I have to agree with you with the fact that technology has made the world better.

  2. Thanks for linking up to Trifextra this weekend. I love the photo that accompanies your post. Too funny. A friend of mine posted a story on Facebook the other day of friends who, when they go out to dinner, all put their cell phones in the middle of the table with the intention of not touching it through dinner. First one to crack and reach for their phone pays the bill. The idea is cute. I can't believe we need it.

  3. Ok, for those of you who are not reading between the lines and just don't "get" it: this post is NOT meant to be taken literally. I am NOT saying that technology is making the world is a better place, quite the opposite actually. And the photo is NOT meant to be loveable or "too funny." It is meant to hold a negative connotation, a warning, if you will. My post is a dark dark commentary on the fact that people cannot connect in person anymore, gadgets are taking precedence over face-to-face encounters. When you go out to dinner with someone and they incessantly stop the conversation to check their email, that is a problem.

Get off your phone, get off your blog, get off your TV, AND GO HUG YOUR KIDS.

Seriously, what are you still doing here? Unplug.

  4. I got it. But I'm from the other camp. Technology has made the world better. And it's a great thing in moderation. And I DO love that picture. Seriously. My kids aren't addicted to TV. In fact, I rarely let them watch it. Consequence? They would TOTALLY watch a test pattern. Totally totally totally.

  5. I agree with Jester Queen - technology is like most things in life - it's good in moderation. I can't tell you how pleased I was when my nine-year-old told me last week that he didn't get kids who sat around all day playing video games. Maybe that's just 'cause we don't have any!
